Auckland Vector Arena Concert was part of Duran Duran's Red Carpet Massacre Tour, held in Auckland, New Zealand on 26 March 2008.

About the concert[]

This was Duran Duran's first headlining show in New Zealand, held at a 12,000-seat venue located at Quay Park, Parnell. The band's only other performance in New Zealand was a one hour support set for Robbie Williams during 2003.

The show started quietly, but once the band launched into "Planet Earth" the place started to jump. It was a fully-seated venue, but most people didn't use theirs (unless it was to stand on to take photos). By the time Duran Duran performed "A View to a Kill" the audience were in full flow and fine voice.

Then the band left the stage briefly and returned for the electro set, which was the four band members at the front of the stage with synthesizers (and in Roger Taylor's case, electronic drums).

During the electro set Nick Rhodes' keyboard broke down whilst playing "I Don't Want Your Love". As he fiddled with the buttons John Taylor encouraged the audience to chat amongst themselves. The problem was fixed only for the synthesizer to brake down again during "Tempted", prompting John to suggest that the band was still 'a work in progress'. Simon Le Bon then added "Duran Duran in Auckland, xxxxing it up in style." He also said how lucky the audience were to be seeing a truly unique version of their show.

Duran Duran then returned to their traditional stage layout and performed "Rio", which got the crowd back on board and it was all guns blazing through to the end.

The show finished with a two-song encore featuring "Girls on Film" and band introductions.
