Arena di Verona: 04-06-2005 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at the Arena di Verona in Verona, Italy on 4 June 2005.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Arena di Verona, a 15,000 capacity Roman amphitheatre built in AD 30. This was the first of five Italian shows on the tour.
After opening with a hard edged version of "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise", Simon Le Bon spoke Italian and said "This is a special occation", and then asked the audience "Are you hungry?" as the intro to the much-loved "Hungry Like the Wolf".
Several more songs from the 80s followed, before Duran Duran played the title track to their new album Astronaut.
Before "What Happens Tomorrow" Le Bon said "This is a song we wrote a couple of years ago when the bombs fell on Baghdad."
During the evening, "Sound of Thunder" was combined with Donna Summer's "I Feel Love", the first song performed by Simon Le Bon as lead singer of Duran Duran back in 1980.
As the introduction to "Save A Prayer", Le Bon asked "If you have gas in your lighters, create the stars for us."
The final part of the show included band introductions during "Girls on Film".
