Amsterdam 1981 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The First European Tour at Paradiso in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 12 September 1981.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance Paradiso, a rock music venue housed in a converted former church building that dates from the nineteenth century.
This was the last date of The First European Tour, before Duran Duran left to play their first ever shows in the USA.
The recording was taken from a radio show broadcast, featuring the band's fourth concert outside the UK. Included are fast and powerful live tracks, with clear vocals performed by Simon Le Bon.
The album front cover features a photo of Duran Duran, taken at the Rum Runner nightclub in Birmingham. This is the same photo used on the Nite Romantics sleeve.
The evening also included Ton Lebbink, an artist perhaps best known as drummer of Mecano, and bouncer of the Paradiso Club.
Tickets for the event cost 7.50 fl.
