Amanda de Cadenet (born May 19 1972) is a British-born actress and photographer, who is a former wife of John Taylor.

She first came to public attention as the daughter of British race car driver Alain de Cadenet and as a "wild child" socialite, but she has since earned acclaim as a fashion/portrait photographer.

Career[]

Though perhaps tame by modern standards, de Cadenet's nightlife partying became daily tabloid fodder in the late 1980s; at seventeen she began achieving a more acceptable form of fame as co-presenter for The Word, a controversial late-night BBC Channel 4 magazine show.

She took several small roles in films, including some by friend and independent film maker Allison Anders. While her acting career essentially stopped in 1999, she has become considerably more successful as a photographer, working for such magazines as Spin, Vogue and Jane, among others.

In 1995, Amanda featured on the cover of Dream Home Heartaches....Remaking/Remodeling Roxy Music, a Roxy Music tribute album produced by John Taylor.

De Cadenet published a book in 2005 entitled Rare Birds, comprised of hundreds of photographs taken over the past decade. Her subjects include Sophie Dahl, Drew Barrymore, Beck Hansen, Nick Valensi, and Keanu Reeves.

In 2011, it was announced that de Cadenet will be the host of a new television interview series called The Conversation, airing on the Lifetime Channel, with Demi Moore as a co-executive producer.

Personal life[]

In 1990, she began dating bassist John Taylor of Duran Duran; they were introduced by mutual friend and photographer Denis O'Regan and married in 1991 after she became pregnant with John's daughter, Atlanta. They then moved to Los Angeles in 1992 to allow de Cadenet to pursue her acting career and to escape the increasingly intrusive British press.

She cultivated a friendship with Courtney Love; the two appeared at an awards show together wearing matching dresses and tiaras. By 1995, de Cadenet's marriage was beginning to disintegrate and her divorce from Taylor was finalized in 1997. She dated Keanu Reeves intermittently afterwards and they were briefly engaged.

Depeche Mode vocalist Dave Gahan is also a close friend; de Cadenet is one of the people he credits with helping him recover from his drug addiction.

In late 2001 she began dating guitarist Nick Valensi of The Strokes; they married in 2006 and de Cadenet gave birth to their twins, a boy named Silvan and a girl named Ella, in October 2006.

She has a brother, Alexander, nicknamed "Bruiser".
