1981...Rocks On is a 12" vinyl compilation album, released in Australia by EMI during 1981. The album features Duran Duran's debut single "Planet Earth".
About the album[]
The album is a collection of singles by various artists. Included are several Australian and New Zealand acts, which are Renée Geyer, Mondo Rock, Jimmy & The Boys, Mental As Anything, Split Enz and Australian Crawl.
The Duran Duran connections include Split Enz, a band who performed as an opening act on various US Rio Tour shows including the Ontario Theater. Australian Crawl performed during The Sing Blue Silver Tour (Birmingham N.E.C 1983 show. The music video for "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes was directed by Russell Mulcahy, who also did "Planet Earth". During 1981 Sheena Easton released the James Bond movie theme "For Your Eyes Only". Spandau Ballet later appear with Duran Duran on Pop Quiz.
